About
After accumulating valuable experience, Mauro opened his own restaurant as chef-patron in Albavilla in August 2003. This venture led to global recognition when he earned a Michelin star in 2007, an accolade he still proudly holds today.
Born in Lombardy, Mauro Elli completed his training at the Professional Hotel Training Center in Clusone, located in the province of Bergamo. He gained practical experience in a small Italian restaurant in Scotland for four years before returning to Italy with fluency in English and French. He then worked as a chef in renowned hotels along the Ligurian Riviera, such as the Splendido in Portofino, and in the St. Moritz area of Switzerland during alternating summer and winter seasons. His love for cooking now extends beyond the kitchen as he also shares his expertise through teaching at both the G.Brera Hotel Institute in Como and ALMA International School of Italian Cuisine headed by Gualtiero Marchesi in Colorno, Parma.
