Founded in 1995 by Amrit Kumar, originally from Punjab, a pre-Himalayan state in Northern India, the Shiva Indian Restaurant brought a piece of India to Milan.
After living in Milan for several years, Amrit wanted to share his culture and cuisine with his community. Initially starting as a take-away, Shiva quickly gained popularity and positive feedback from customers. This encouraged Amrit to expand and open an actual restaurant the following year, located at Viale Gian Galeazzo 7. It was one of only three Indian restaurants in the city at that time. Over the years, Shiva grew in size and even added original murals by a talented decorator. In 2013, a second location was opened in Bergamo at via Don Luigi Palazzolo 44.
