About

Vitantonio Lombardo Ristorante derives its name from its esteemed Chef, with the aim of evoking a sense of familiarity for every guest, making them feel at home.

The grotto in the Rione Sassi has been intentionally preserved in its natural charm, as per architect Alessandro Tortorelli's design and Vitantonio's own wish to showcase Matera as a location where the curvature and hollowness of stone can create an everlasting taste experience. The rooms are uniquely shaped, with exposed tufo walls adorned with sophisticated accents of glass that divide the "grotto" area - featuring large tables with views of the bustling kitchen where the chef and his team work tirelessly - from the more intimate "Cava" room. This room boasts a naturally cool atmosphere due to its location within a cave, right next to the impressive wine cellar.
