About
Visit this wonderful restaurant in the beautiful city of Genoa.
As the rival to the Spanish caravel, the carrack was a Genoese transport vessel. The "S. Maria" was not a caravel, but a carrack during Columbus' expedition. ''Focone'', a Genoese term used to describe the part of the Carrack where embers were produced for cooking and heating. This is where the name of the restaurant came from.
