About
Dar Poeta, the pizzeria named after the great Roman poet Giuseppe Gioachino Belli, celebrates his dedication to portraying the essence of Roman culture through his famous sonnets.
He fearlessly depicted the raw and sometimes devious nature of the common people living in Trastevere during the late 18th to mid-19th century. On April 7th, 1995, it was an honor to dedicate these walls to such a talented poet who captured the spirit of this neighborhood. To further honor him, some of Belli's most renowned sonnets adorn the pizzeria's walls, showcasing his unapologetic realism and disregard for societal conventions present in literature at that time.
