About

The charming Locanda Barbarossa sits in the heart of Como's historic center, just steps away from the medieval Piazza San Fedele and its namesake Basilica, dating back to 1120.

The establishment is named after a prominent figure who played a vital role in shaping the city during that era. Despite being overtaken by Milan in 1158, this determined individual worked alongside Emperor Federico Barbarossa to reconstruct Como, adding fortified walls, towers, and a small castle known as Rocca del Barbarossa on Baradello. This resilient and determined spirit is also embodied by the Locanda Barbarossa itself, which underwent extensive renovations and reopened on October 26, 2004. The updates aimed to preserve the inn's original structure and Moltrasio stone.
