About
Violence against women is brought to light by the poignant art installation
The Wall of Dolls is an artistic piece that, when viewed from one of Milan's main thoroughfares, is eerie, unsettling, and disturbing. The wall, which marks and denounces femicide and violence against women, is located in the well-known Ticinese neighborhood next to the Basilica of San Lorenzo. The wall is a backdrop covered in gray mesh and adorned with dangling dolls of all kinds. It is difficult to notice and ignore the wall. Dried-up flowers, pictures, posters, and poetry are also displayed; some of them include information on crimes against women, while others are stirring declarations penned by abuse victims to ingeniously confront their attackers.
