About

Maybe the skull of the patron saint of lovers lies in the Basilica di Santa Maria in Cosmedin.

A glass reliquary in Rome's Basilica di Santa Maria in Cosmedin holds a skull, which is identified by lettering painted across its forehead as Saint Valentine, the patron saint of lovers. However, it is uncertain whose skull this is due to the presence of more than one Catholic St. Valentine and the large time gap between their passing and the enthusiastic labeling of remains in the Victorian era. Moreover, as many as 10 different places claim to house relics of the saint.
