About
This Romanesque church was constructed over the grave of a martyr who, according to mythology, vanquished a dragon.
The Romanesque church of Santa Vittoria, hidden in Sabina's olive groves and hills, tells a remarkable story about religious fervor and devotion. In its present state, the church was built on the site of an ancient shrine centered around the cult of Saint Victoria, a third-century Christian martyr. As a result of her refusal to marry a pagan patrician, Victoria was exiled to Sabina, where she performed a miracle.
