About
Located in what was once a sacred forest, the ruins of this medieval castle overlook Piediluco Lake.
In southern Umbria, near Terni and Rieti, Piediluco is located on the eponymous lake. The name comes from the sacred forest described by Pliny in his “Naturalis Historia” in the ancient Roman period. At first, it was dedicated to the Sabine goddess Vacuna, but later to Diana and Velinia during ancient Rome.
