About
The bridge was once used by Renaissance sex workers to entice customers.
Ponte delle Tette (Bridge of the Tits) is one of the hundreds of small bridges that cross the waterways of Venice, but this particular span is unique for its connection with sex work. A little over a century ago, authorities restricted sex work to a specific area in order to contain it - an effort that backfired because it made the trade more visible and accessible. A curfew was imposed on prostitutes working in Carampane di Rialto, and taxes were levied on their profession in 1514.
