About
An illuminated cave with stalagmites and stalagmites.
In the late 1700s, an Sardinian fisherman made an unexpected discovery while fishing off the coast - a large opening in a cliff face. Situated around one metre above sea level, the entrance revealed a breathtaking grotto inhabited by numerous stalactites and stalagmites. Immortalised after the Roman god of the sea, this local legend soon became a popular tourist attraction featuring a 120-metre long saltwater lake. Visitors can marvel at the lake's shallow salt waters and its calcic salt structures, similar to those found elsewhere in the cave.
