Purgatory objects said to have been singed by souls.
The little Piccolo Museo Del Purgatorio, located in the back of Chiesa del Sacro Cuore del Suffragio on the Tiber, is more than a hundred years old. It's said to contain bibles, prayer books, tabletops, and articles of clothing that have been scorched by souls in purgatory. Catholics believe that the soul remains stuck there until it pays for its sins but, with enough prayer from relatives on earth, can be released to heaven. This museum is believed to have collected handprints and other burn-marks as proof that those in purgatory are hoping for their dear ones to pray even harder.
