About

A Roman calendar from the first century lies concealed in a narrow town street.

One of the most remarkable archaeological finds in the Italian region of Lazio is the Roman calendar known as Fasti Verolani, which is located in the courtyard of Casa Reali, a late medieval house in Veroli. In 1922, a marble plaque was discovered on a tomb in a paleo-Christian necropolis found on the same site. Camillo Sciacca Scarafoni, a local scholar, reconstructed the calendar from 60 fragments.
