About

The mysteries of the Etruscan sacrificial rituals are revealed by this old altar, which appears out of the dense trees.

Salvatore Fosci, a local citizen, unearthed an enormous Etruscan altar in the shape of a pyramid in 2008, not far from Bomarzo's renowned Parco dei Mostri (Park of Monsters). The massive peperino rock, which was concealed by vegetation on the sides of a steep canyon, wasn't found for the first time until two local archaeologists did so in the 1990s.
