About
This unfinished "city of toys" was almost like Italy's version of Las Vegas.
The early 60s saw a fleeting economic boom which signalled the start of a new era, complete with gleaming cars, rock ‘n’ roll and an exuberant sense of optimism for the future. This was the perfect backdrop for an ambitious project on the part of enigmatic entrepreneur Mario Bagno – to demolish the traditional rural village of Consonno and build something entirely different in its place. Such was his resolve that he bought all the properties there and relocated the villagers, leaving only a few homes and the church standing.
