There is a stunning cemetery known for its exquisite & lifelike sculptures of mourning.
After the cholera epidemic swept through northern Italy in 1835, the government decided that a monumental cemetery should be built outside of town. This decision was made in response to the overcrowding of churches' catacombs and the new burials taking up available urban space.
