About

A electrical cable that crossed Messina Strait was once tightened by an abandoned structure.

A special facility was built to tighten the conductors using counterweights. On the Sicilian side, two towers were built to hold counterweights. On the opposite side, where the conductors were affixed in the usual manner at a strainer portal, the crossing was so long that it needed a special facility.
