About
Roma's modern architecture.
The 1909 master plan, a vision of city planner Edmondo Sanjust di Teulada and Mayor Ernesto Nathan, aimed to transform Roma into a bustling European metropolis. An example of this ambition is Via Bernardo Celentano in the heart of Flaminio district. This hidden haven is known as Little London due to its elegant Liberty style architecture, complete with private gardens. Architect Quadrio Pirani used it as a test ground for a new urban pattern that could match the requirements of the modern city. Unfortunately, two large and discordant buildings overshadow Viale del Vignola, partially obscuring the area from view.
