About
A massive sinkhole that local legend says was caused by the Virgin Mary's wrath.
It is one of the most amazing geological wonders in Central Italy to find an enormous karstic sinkhole between the small towns of Collepardo and Vico nel Lazio in eastern Lazio. A cave once stood here, but the roof collapsed at some point, revealing this enormous hole. Its depth is between 40 meters and 70 meters, and it is inaccessible without ropes and speleological equipment. The sinkhole measures around 300 meters in diameter.
