Carlo Collodi initially brought Pinocchio to life in Italian literature in 1883. His story, however, was much darker than the beloved Disney version of 1940 that was enjoyed by families and children worldwide. At Pinocchio Park near his mother's hometown of Collodi, Tuscany, tourists can explore Carlo's imaginative world. Though he wrote under the pen name of Collodi, Carlo Lorenzini is honored and remembered through this special park today.
