Must See Places

About

Gió Marconi Gallery was established in 1990 by Gió Marconi, who had previously created Studio Marconi 17, an experimental space for young artists and curators from 1987 to 1990.

In the beginning, the gallery was co-directed by Gió and his father, Giorgio, who had founded Studio Marconi (1965-1992). The inaugural year of the gallery featured exhibitions by Martin Kippenberger, Mario Schifano, and Richard Hamilton. Over the next three decades, the gallery has maintained a lively program and a unique approach to showcasing bold choices ahead of their time. Throughout its history, it has remained committed to supporting its artists and promoting their diverse practices to both local and international audiences and institutions. While contemporary works have always been a focus of the gallery's program, it gradually expanded to include historical artists from Studio Marconi as well.
