About
Fog is turned into food in this ancient walled garden.
Its most remote and least visited island, Pantellalleria, sits off the coast of Tunisia and is buffeted by desert winds. Moisture, if any, comes mostly in the form of fog. What can you do in such a harsh environment? Over the millennia, ancient Pantellerians created an amazingly clever fog-catching garden known as the giardino Pantesco ("Pantellerian garden," in Italian), each of which was built to nurture a single sprout in one.
