About
A renowned saint once slept in a small cell adjacent to this church.
The facade of this church is a bit underwhelming and might cause a hurried visitor to pass by without stopping, but don't be fooled. The church was built by the Franciscans in 1231. The church is surrounded by a small cell, where Francis slept when he visited Rome in 1219. It is also possible to see the rock he used as a pillow. Throughout its history, the church has been renovated several times.
