About
Castello Di Frassinello, housed in a medieval castle, features rooms with exposed stone walls, murals, and rustic furnishings.
Its earliest records go all the way back to the eleventh century, as evidenced by Henry III's royal charter, which states "cum castro et corte et cappella". The castle's primary military purpose at first was to protect the village of Monferrato. But as time went on, the building saw several changes that finally turned it into a noble home.
The aristocratic House of Nemours, Counts of Frassinello, Lords of Lignano, and Knights of Malta possessed the fortress over the ages. The family added several additions to the structure in the 17th and 18th century, including the exquisitely painted octagonal chapel. The castle was sold to private individuals in 1945, and more recently, major restoration work has been done to restore it to its ancient glory.
