The Civic Archaeological Museum is housed in the Paleologi Castle, which dates back to the second half of the fifteenth century and was once the Marquises of Monferrato's ancient seat.
This castle was of the oldest structures in the region, according to legend, was constructed in the late Roman era and was destroyed by the Huns in 452 AD. It was reconstructed during the Middle Ages as the count-bishop's temporary dwelling and seat of authority.
