About

One of Europe's most polluted cities is home to two very green residential towers.

In 2014, Bosco Verticale, or "vertical forest," opened in Milan with much fanfare and was hailed as "the most exciting new tower in the world." Consisting of two 27-story residential high-rises, Boeri's project features cantilevered balconies filled with almost 900 trees and over 2000 shrubs and bushes. This model for sustainable housing is part of architect Stefano Boeri's BioMilano proposal which seeks to enable metropolitan reforestation and fortify urban biodiversity.
