The city of Verona, home to the mysterious whalebone that has been hanging in the center of the Arco della Costa (Arch of the Rib) for centuries, is located about 75 miles (120 km) from the sea. No one is quite sure how it got there, but some estimates suggest that it may have been there since the 15th century.
