About

Stromboli is a venerable volcano that has been erupting nonstop for the past 2000 years.

"Stromboli! What an impact these few words had on the imagination! In Journey to the Center of the Earth, Jules Verne penned this sentence. The 12.6 square kilometer island of Stromboli is a rare natural gem located just north of Sicily. One of the few continuously active volcanoes, Stromboli has been erupting every 15 to 20 minutes for millennia. Each tiny explosion sends rivulets of lava into the ocean and spurts of magma into the sky.
