A unknown civilisation that colonized the island of Pantelleria is thought to have built this megalithic monument.
Just south of the main settlement on Pantelleria stands an impressive round stone mausoleum, which was built by a group of people who lived on the island 5,000 years ago. The so-called Sese Grande is an impressive funerary monument reaching almost 20 feet (six meters) high. The 12 cells inside the structure can be reached through corresponding corridors.
