About
A beautiful 150-year-old synagogue that survived Italy's fascist period and the Second World War.
Modena's synagogues (La Sinagoga di Modena) date back to 1873 and are among the largest in the entire country. Located in Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini, the heart of the city's ancient Jewish ghetto, it has a bright and ornate interior. The Torah commandment to multiply is symbolized by the vibrant blue ceiling painted in a domed ceiling sprinkled with golden stars.
