About
These stone homes in Majella National Park are a remnant of the area's pastoral heritage.
Located in the northern sector of Majella National Park in Central Italian Region of Abruzzo, Valle Giumentina has stone buildings and stone walls littering its dry landscape. During the summertime, shepherds and farmers were forced to work land away from their homes, so they would reside in these huts, known as tholos. They were testaments to the agro-pastoral civilization of Abruzzo.
