About
The abandoned "Ghost Mansion" was left to deteriorate in the Italian highlands.
Villa De Vecchi, located east of Lake Como, enjoys a picturesque setting among the wooded Cortenova mountains. Constructed between 1854-1857 by Count Felix De Vecchi, an Italian nationalist hero, the residence quickly earned the nicknames "Red House," "Ghost Mansion," and "Casa Delle Streghe" (House of Witches). Originally envisaged by the Count and realised with assistance from architect Alessandro Sidoli as a tranquil summer retreat for his family, its history became one marked by tragedy soon after completion.
