About
The local tuff rock was carved into the shape of this Roman theater, which was unearthed in the 19th century.
The town of Sutri is a small, fascinating town located north of Rome built within and on top of volcanic tuff rock. Visitors to the town will see an excavated Roman necropolis, but the most impressive feature is the Sutri Amphitheatre, which dates back to the 2nd and 1st centuries CE.
