About

A bronze statue honoring King Gino, his majesty.

There is a statue in Piazza del Popolo dedicated to an orange cat known as Re Gino (King Gino), the mascot of the city of San Giovanni in Persiceto. In June 2009, Gino visited shops and offices around town regularly. He acquired a large local following, and many were devastated by his untimely passing in 2018. It is believed that Gino was struck by a car. Claudio Nicoli created this bronze statue in honor of him.
