About
On the side of this museum is a sizable facsimile of a massive Roman inscription.
The Res Gestae Divi Augusti (The Deeds of the Divine Augustus) was a monumental inscription celebrating the life and achievements of Augustus, the first Roman Emperor. Just before his death in 14 CE, the emperor completed the long text, which was engraved on two bronze pillars placed in front of the Mausoleum of Augustus. However, the original inscription has not survived.
