The ancient Roman city of Pompeii, with its walls still embellished with the erotic arts, has stood since its destruction due to a volcanic eruption in 79. While much of the art was removed from the city into private collections and the Gabinetto Segreto in Naples, images remain on the walls of Lupanar Grande - home to the prostitutes of Pompeii - as well as at the House of the Vetti and Suburban Baths.
