About
These anatomical machinery are only one of the bizarre objects found in an Italian crypt.
Once a private venue of worship for the Sansevero family, this church museum was eventually transformed into their burial chapel. Under Raimondo di Sangro, the Prince of Sansevero, the Cappella Sansevero acquired its eclectic collection. Di Sangro, who also held the position of head of the Neapolitan Masonic lodge, was truly a man of Renaissance; devoted to science and alchemy; an inventor, mystic and polyglot.
