About

Italy's southern region is a sulfuric wasteland.

One of the most seismically active volcanic landscapes on Earth is characterized by ground movement, earth trembling, and the rising of hot, foul-smelling steam from hissing fissures. The region directly to the west of Naples is one enormous volcanic crater and is home to Vulcan, the Roman god of fire. The smoky, sulfurous region known as Campi Flegrei has long been connected to Hell and the underworld.
