About
There have been many misfortunes suffered by the owners of this magical-looking island.
Off the coast of Posillipo, one of Naples' famed quarters, what appears to be two islands turns out to be just one: the two large rocks connected by a meager stone arch. From the sea, this peculiar bridge creates an unforgettable scene. Not only that - Gaiola Island also has a notorious past. Narratives about its purported curse started in the early 19th century, when “The Wizard” was known to inhabit it. Then in 1871, Luigi Negri purchased the island and had a villa constructed on it; unfortunately he had to sell his property after his fishing business fell apart.
