About
Isoelastic membrane is used to build this unusual house.
Casa Saldarini, designed in 1961 by Vittorio Giorgini and also known as "The Whale" is a house designed with an attention to the relationship between architecture and nature. Giorgini studied in Florence and spent many years living and working in New York City, where he taught at Pratt Institute. The first building based on an iso-elastic membrane made of concrete and wire netting was designed by Giorgini in 1969, prior to Gehry's development of the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain.
