About
The Teatro Regio di Parma, a renowned opera house in Italy, was founded by Maria Luigia of Austria.
One of the most prestigious traditional theatres in the country, it is often compared to other iconic opera houses such as the Teatro alla Scala, San Carlo, and Fenice. For opera enthusiasts, it is considered an unparalleled example of Italian operatic tradition. In 2001, while renovating the stalls of the Teatro Regio, excavations uncovered various historical artifacts including stone walls dating back to the second Iron Age and a mosaic floor from the Roman Augustan era. The remains also included structures from a Roman domus from the 2nd century AD and a section of an imperial wall constructed with river pebbles.
