About

A Florence railway station commemorates those who were deported from Italy and sent to extermination camps.

Florence's Jews were deported during the atrocities of World War II and only 13 returned after the end of the war. A striking memorial sculpture and steel plaque at platform 16 honors the memory of the trainloads of Jewish people and other Italian citizens that were transported from this location to Nazi concentration camps during the Holocaust.
