About
Situated in the heart of downtown Bergamo, Museo Matris Domini is home to a stunning collection of historic frescoes dating back to the XIII and XIV centuries.
Housed within a former Dominican monastery, this museum opened its doors to the public in 2000. The exhibition features around 20 impressive frescoes, divided into two categories. The first group can be found in the spacious "Refettorio vecchio - Old Refectory," while the second group originates from the apse of the monastery's ancient Romanesque church. These unique artworks were able to survive despite undergoing renovations during the XVIII century that transformed the church into a baroque style.
