About
The Accademia Gallery (Galleria dell'Accademia) in Florence is one of Italy's most renowned art museums, famous for its extensive collection of Renaissance art.
The museum’s most famous piece is Michelangelo's David, one of the most iconic sculptures in art history. The statue is celebrated for its representation of the Biblical hero and Michelangelo's exceptional sculptural technique.
David was originally intended for the Florence Cathedral but was placed in the Piazza della Signoria before being moved to the Accademia Gallery for preservation.
