About
Rome's ancient walls surround an enchanting public park.
The Villa Doria Pamphili, constructed by the prestigious Roman Pamphili family in 1630, is now a magnificent and sprawling park just beyond the walls of Rome. Second only to the regional Ancient Appia Park in size, its central feature is undoubtedly the baroque-style Casino del Bel Respiro (“small villa of good breath”). The picturesque secret garden, raised above a valley, has numerous ornamental structures such as statues, fountains, chapels and antiquities from ancient Rome.
