About
A road from the Stone Age that has claimed numerous victims has been closed to cars.
Via Mala is a stretch of an ancient road that links Val di Scalve to Valcamonica along the Dezzo river, which runs at the bottom of a deep gorge. Via Mala is notorious for its treacherousness, as it was claimed numerous victims over the years. In 1960, an upgrade project was undertaken, but it has since deteriorated. New tunnels were constructed in the 1990s that bypassed the most treacherous (yet spectacular) parts of Via Mala.
