About
An Italian villa filled with art and armour belongs to a rich kid.
As an overflowing trove of extraordinary marvels, the Stibbert Museum far transcends being seen as a mere repository of history. All began when Frederick Stibbert came into possession of a tremendous inheritance from his grandpa Giles - Commander-in-Chief of the British East India Company and Governor of Bengal. Rather than pursue employment, he immidiately employed his new wealth to collect items like ancient weapons, armors, costumes, and furniture from around the globe. His private museum was housed in the family villa until enough inventory was amassed to necessitate expansion with the help of architects, sculptors and artisans. Upon Stibbert's demise he bequeathed his magnificent array to Florence whereupon it became available for viewing by the public.
