About
Mud volcanoes in Italy are known for being both gross and salty.
With its siren song of strange burps and gurgles emitted from deep within the Earth, a field in the Italian Badlands entices visitors. With a geologic landscape unlike any other in Italy, the "Salse di Nirano" was established as the first natural reserve in Emilia-Romagna, in the province of Modena. This area is famous for its mud volcanoes that erupt under rolling hills a few hundred meters above sea level.
