About
The Pitti Palace (Palazzo Pitti) is a magnificent Renaissance palace located in Florence, Italy.
The palace was initially built in 1458 by the Pitti family, wealthy bankers and merchants. It was designed by architect Filippo Brunelleschi, although the construction continued over several centuries.
In 1549, the Pitti Palace was acquired by the Medici family, who made it their primary residence. The palace subsequently expanded and became one of the most important residences of the Grand Dukes of Tuscany.
